I went to see the play the day after the first day, and since it was an early show, I thought I would write my impressions after the streaming ended, but before I knew it, tomorrow was the final performance!
I started to write, but to be honest, rather than the hard work of each performer, I can only say, "Why did they choose this work for the pre-opening?" I don't know if it's a recent trend, but many stories end without any salvation, and I'm puzzled by how people can accept that as interesting.
At the end, after Guinevere leaves, couldn't they have ended it by the knights gathering together and reaffirming their loyalty, since it was a pre-opening. It would have been nice if there was at least a finale, even if it was short...
During the performance period, the all-you-can-eat Sky Stage aired Zunko (Asato Suzuki)'s "Excalibur," Makyasey (Ryo Makaze)'s "Lancelot," and Tamakichi (Ryo Tamaki)'s "The Legend of King Arthur." Also, Kenji Urai's "King Arthur" was broadcast on WOWOW, and when I could, I watched it live, and when I couldn't, I recorded it and watched the whole thing.
Ishida Masaya's direction really brings out the mysterious characters, and I thought "The Legend of King Arthur" was the most interesting. By the way, Miya Rurika's presence was really big in this performance (no one can compete with Miya Rurika as Morgan or Artois!). Zunko's "Excalibur" was the debut performance of the Cosmos troupe itself, and it was made in a very Takarazuka Revue style, which was interesting in its own way, but it felt a little different from other works. And as a result, I ended up thinking, "Maybe I don't really like this story in the first place" (I'm not sure, but every time I watch it, I dislike Merlin more and more...).
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the main performance that will debut the new top! !
Or so I thought, but when I read the official description, it says, "A dramatic musical depicting the love and revenge of Count Cagliostro, a famous magician of rare caliber," and Kiki in the poster image has a frown on her face... But still, there's a show (performed by Ittoku Nakamura), so it should be fine!
That's right. Of all the Arthurian plays, "Camelot" starring Masayuki Sakamoto will be performed at Nissay Theatre in October. This performance is billed as "The long-awaited Japanese premiere of a classic Broadway musical," and I'm a little curious to see what kind of production it is.
