good Cribs public relations.
The Cots 4 Tots story began in 2010 with a fundraising appeal for Bristol's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael's Hospital. Since its beginning the charity has raised tens and thousands of pounds to help families of premature or sick babies in the West of England and South Wales. Its mission includes providing families with accommodation facilities as well as the latest equipment for the NICU.
One of the primary focuses is the Cots for Tots House, a cost-free "home from home" for families who are staying in the hospital. It is located next to the NICU and allows parents to be close to their babies. Since 2012 the charity has helped more than 2,100 families stay in the home.
Families who stay at Cots for Tots House can be reassured that they aren't alone. They are part of a community of parents who are going through the same issues as they do and they are able to help each other out. In addition they have access a wide range of services to make their stay as comfortable as they can.
The charity also funds a musician who visits the NICU to ease the stress and suffering of both parents and their babies. It has been proven that this improves the quality of life for the patient and their family members. Music therapy can decrease the amount of time needed to treat children, thereby saving hospitals time and money. The therapist uses specially-designed resonant devices that are tuned to specific frequencies and play soothing tunes for infants. Moreover, the resonant instruments also create vibrations that help relax parents and fathers.
