WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader kit upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapons. However, the Item Level upgrade that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using a button, which will display a preview of the item when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an Best item upgrader has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via several methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is reduced too, but it is only available once certain milestones are achieved.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and pathways.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you have available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
